Olympique de Marseille forward Robinio Vaz (18) has reflected on his promising start to the season, insisting that he remains focused on building consistency after breaking through into Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team squad.

The 18-year-old, a product of OM’s academy, has featured regularly across all competitions this term and has already scored four goals and provided two assists this season for Les Phocéens. Speaking in a mixed zone attended by Get French Football News, reflected on his breakthrough season for Marseille, and the increasing homegrown presence in the OM squad this season with Darryl Bakola and Tadjidine Mmadi getting increasing amounts of minutes in the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1.“It makes me happy because I’ve been through that myself,” Vaz explained. “I’ve had some minutes, I’ve gone through those stages. I trust them, and I trust myself. I don’t feel like the only young player anymore — the important thing is that we do things well together.”The 18 year-old made his OM debut last season, but got on the scoresheet for the first time this season against Paris FC. The former FC Sochaux product then netted against Le Havre before starring against Angers with a confident brace. “So far, I think it’s been a good start to the season,” he said. “But I can’t stop here, I have to keep going. I’m just trying to give back the confidence the coach gives me.” GFFN | George Boxall – Reporting from Stade Vélodrome, Marseille.
