Ndlondlo returns to Gallants

Marumo Gallants have confirmed the signing of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, who joins on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with the Buccaneers at the end of last season.

The diminutive dynamic midfielder joined Pirates at the beginning of the 2022/23 season after an impressive stint with Gallants, as the club began a new era under then-coach Jose Riveiro, who was relatively unknown at the time.

With Pirates, Ndlondlo lifted five domestic cup titles in three years under the tutelage of the Spanish mentor. However, while he enjoyed a trophy-laden stay, the player saw little game time with competition for a starting spot rife.

Ndlondlo made a total of 65 appearances across all competitions for the Sea Robbers, displaying his versatility as he turned out as a central midfielder and defensive midfielder at times, while scoring three goals and providing as many assists in the process.

As Pirates prepared for the 2025/26 season, new additions were made to the squad, including in the midfield, with the signings of highly rated Sipho Mbule, Sihle Nduli, and Masinda Nemtajela, among others – making Ndlondlo surplus to requirements.

The Thokoza-born star is now set for a second spell with Gallants, where he will be central to 28-year-old coach Alexandre Lafitte’s plans in the heart of midfield as he brings stability, experience and a winning mentality.

Ndlondlo is currently with the South African National team in the African Nations Championships (CHAN) in Uganda, where Bafana Bafana will be aiming to book a spot in the knockout stages of the competition.

The 30-year-old will join a Gallants team that has already picked up momentum in the Betway Premiership as they are currently in third-place on the log standings after victories over Richards Bay and Pirates in the opening two matches.
