Fenerbahce presidential hopeful Hakan Safi is pitching a sweeping campaign built around Mason Greenwood and Paolo Maldini. According to Goal.com, he plans to unveil a marquee package, including the claimed announcement of Greenwood as a major signing, to sway the Türkiye club’s election.

The English forward, currently at Marseille, is framed as the statement addition Safi believes could define his tenure. He has told supporters that one star would not be enough as he seeks to restore elite talent to the Sukru Saracoglu.

Off the pitch, Maldini is expected in Istanbul on Saturday and is scheduled to appear alongside Safi at the Fenerbahce Faruk Ilgaz Facilities. If Safi prevails, the former AC Milan captain and sporting director would act as the leading football voice and a global ambassador.

Greenwood, 24, has delivered 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 matches this season for Marseille, totalling 37 direct goal involvements. Comfortable on either flank and a clinical finisher, he is positioned as the centrepiece of Safi’s vision.

The developments arrive days after Greenwood expressed a wish to remain in France while celebrating his Ligue 1 Team of the Season selection. He said the campaign had been challenging collectively but strong for him personally, praised the league’s level and added that he hopes to stay.
