Defender Benjamin Pavard will miss the first leg of the Champions League semifinal tie between Barcelona and Inter Milan.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Frenchman will miss Wednesday’s match with an ankle sprain.
As if losing a third straight match in all competitions without scoring was not bad enough for Inter, there was also a huge injury blow early on in yesterday’s Serie A clash with Roma.
Nerazzurri defender Benjamin Pavard started the league outing.
However, the Frenchman was not able to last long on the pitch.
Pavard suffered an evident ankle issue after a challenge with Roma defender Zeki Celik.
The 29-year-old made a couple brief attempts to run off the injury. But it was very quickly evident that these would be fruitless.

Today, Benjamin Pavard underwent tests with the Inter medical staff.
And these confirmed that the former Bayern Munich defender has suffered an ankle sprain. He will not be able to recover from his injury for at least a few days.
And that means that Benjamin Pavard will miss Inter’s next match.
In just a couple days’ time, Inter take on Barcelona in the first leg of a Champions League semifinal tie.
There is very little doubt that Pavard would be in the starting eleven for that match if fit and available.
However, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will have to do without Benjamin Pavard.
