Following a 3-0 loss to Millwall away from home in February, the young Bees responded immediately, with three-straight league wins following against Birmingham City (2-0), Swansea City (3-0) and Colchester United (2-1).
A competitive clash with Monaco Under-23s away from home and win over Exeter City Under-21s have followed, setting Brentford up for a strong showing on Monday.
Brentford fought out a gritty 1-0 win over Exeter City last time out, extending their run in the Premier League Cup to the quarter-final stage.
After an even first half, the young Bees found the opener on 60 minutes, Isaac Holland tapping home a rebound following Ethan Brierley’s shot from outside the box. The goal proved to be the winner as MacFarlane’s side held on for the victory.
Previously against Bristol City, Brentford cruised to a 4-0 win at the Robins High Performance Centre.
Max Dickov found the back of the net in the first half to give the west London side a 1-0 lead going into the break, before an Ethan Laidlaw penalty and Iwan Morgan brace in the second half secured all three points.
Bristol City have endured an up-and-down season to date, coming into Monday’s clash seventh in the PDL South group table with seven wins, six draws and seven losses.
The beginning to the young Robins’ 2025 was strong, with the side going on a five-game unbeaten run, including three consecutive wins.
Last time out, that run came to an end, with Peterborough United cruising to a 4-2 win at home.
Bristol City will be on the road again following Monday’s clash; a trip to Millwall awaits them on 21 March before a two-game home stand against Watford and Hull City.
