The young Bees will be full of confidence after securing their first league win of the campaign in their most recent outing.
The west Londoners showed great resilience to come back from a goal down away from home to ensure they left with three points.
In reference to the victory and looking ahead to Tuesday, Saunders said:
"It’ll be a good challenge. The boys showed real character to come back from a goal down in our last game, and we need to carry that same resilience into Tuesday.
"Wigan have also just got their first win of the season, so we know it’s going to be a competitive fixture. We need to be patient in possession, stick to our principles, and make sure we control the game for large periods.
"At the same time, we’ve got to be alert defensively and take our chances when they come — it’s about combining focus, energy, and composure throughout the 90 minutes."
Brentford secured their first league victory of the new season with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Huddersfield Town.
Despite going a goal down in the early stages of the game, Ollie Shield found the top corner of the net with an exquisite finish.
The victory was secured by second-half substitute Iwan Morgan who stepped off the bench to power home a strike from an awkward angle.
Wigan come into Tuesday’s clash 16th in the league table with one win and two losses from three games.
The young Latics suffered defeats to Colchester United and Bournemouth in their first two games. They registered their first league win in their third attempt in similar fashion to the young Bees, as they beat Cardiff City 2-1 away from home.
The club will have updates of the game against Wigan on social media, as well as a match report on the club's official website and app.
