Brentford Women take on AFC Wimbledon at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday 15 March in the senior Capital Cup semi-final (3pm kick-off GMT).

Standing in their way of the final is a Dons side who sit in Tier 3, representing the highest level of opposition the Bees have faced in the club's history.

Carly Williams' side will be looking to progress to the final of the senior Capital Cup for the first time, having won the intermediate section of the competition in consecutive seasons with a penalty shoot-out win over Farnham Town last season and a 4-0 victory over Leatherhead in 2023/24.

Speaking ahead of the semi-final, Williams said her side are looking forward to the toughest challenge they have faced yet.

"Wimbledon is a big draw, we're really excited and we'll go at it as we always do by trying to be ourselves and put our stamp on the game," she said.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for these players to step up not just as individuals but as a team to test themselves against Tier 3 opposition.

"It's a chance to show how far we've progressed across the season. We've reiterated every single matchday that it's all about focusing on us and our identity, and let's see how far we can push ourselves by doing that."

Last Time Out

The Bees bounced back from defeat to Saltdean United at Gtech Community Stadium with a 2-0 win away against Ashford Town Women in the London and South East Premier Division.

Makeba Black scored her first goal for the first-team to get the west Londoners up and running, before Ashley Cheatley bagged her 13th of the season to seal the victory in the second half.

In the quarter-final of the Capital Cup, Brentford put on a five-star display as they beat Dorking Wanderers 5-0 at Bedfont Sports Club.

Cloe O'Brien opened the scoring to give the Bees a narrow lead at the break, before Renai McCrea, Cheatley, Becca Teale and Lucy Potter added goals in the second half to cruise through to the last four.

About AFC Wimbledon

Playing in the Women's National League Southern Premier, AFC Wimbledon are the highest ranked side that Brentford Women have ever faced.

The Wombles are currently in a relegation battle, sitting inside the drop zone in 11th place on 17 points, two points from safety.

Most recently, they lost 5-0 to relegation rivals Gwalia United away from home, despite the match being goalless at the break.

Before that, they had won three games in four, including a 5-3 victory over Sutton United (who play in the same division as the Bees) in the quarter-final of the Capital Cup.

Captain Ashlee Hincks, who has scored 11 goals in 21 appearances so far this campaign, is the main goal threat for the south London side.

To all fans heading to Bedfont on Sunday, please be aware that there is limited parking available at the venue.

Public transport is available. Hatton Cross train station is a 10-minute walk away, while bus services are also available along Hatton Road.

Entry to the game is free, and the entrance to Bedfont is located on Hatton Road. There is plenty of seating available for fans around the pitch as well as standing room.

Brentford Women B will also be in Capital Cup action on Sunday as they host Richmond Park Under-18s Girls in the junior section of the competition at Bedfont and Feltham Social Club (3pm kick-off GMT).

Tommy Ryan-Maynard’s side will be eyeing a strong performance to book their place in the semi-final of the competition.

As well as hoping to go deep in the Capital Cup, Brentford Women B are just one league win away from securing the Greater London Division One South title.

Last time out

The Bees progressed to the fourth round of the JGMT Cup with an emphatic 8-2 victory over London Academicals.

Leah Robertson and Georgia Woods both scored hat-tricks as Ryan-Maynard's side extended their impressive winning streak to six games.

Previously in the Capital Cup, Brentford knocked Denham United Ladies Reserves out with a 8-0 home victory.

Robertson scored an astonishing six goals in the tie, with Karina Hlek and Ava Slade adding a goal each in the dominant win.

About Richmond Park Under-18s Girls

Richmond Park play in the Surrey County Womens & Girls League Under-18s Tier 1.

They currently sit unbeaten at the top of the division having won 10 and drawn three of their 13 games this season.

To get to the quarter-final, they beat South London Laces Spartans 5-1 at home.
