Ruben Amorim may have been relieved of his duties as Manchester United head coach, yet his departure has done little to derail the Red Devils’ transfer plans.
According to The Athletic, United’s recruitment strategy remains firmly in place. INEOS are said to have a clear vision of the type of players they want at the club, and if the right profile becomes available, they are expected to act decisively.
Indeed, Graeme Bailey reports that the 20‑time English champions may already have identified one exciting talent they are prepared to battle Premier League rivals to secure.
That player is Wolverhampton Wanderers’ fast‑rising attacker Mateus Mane.
The 18‑year‑old caught the eye at Old Trafford in December, delivering a fearless performance as Wolverhampton Wanderers held United to a draw. Since then, the Rochdale academy graduate has continued to impress, dazzling against West Ham United and Everton.
He struck in Wolves first victory of the season, a 3‑0 triumph over the Hammers, before stepping up again on Wednesday to help his side earn a point against the Toffees.
About the Everton vs Wolves game, Bailey, via Teamtalk, reveals:
“Scouts from United, Liverpool and Manchester City were all in attendance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to see him score against Everton, with the Toffees themselves also monitoring him closely.
“Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have likewise watched Mane, and we can confirm that each has made enquiries with his camp to register their interest.”
While this is shaping into a potential winter bidding war, Bailey cautions:
“Wolverhampton Wanderers are not willing to let the teenager go mid-season, so his suitors will have to wait until the summer to try to make a move.”
With Wolves fighting relegation, United and others may sense the perfect opportunity to strike should the Old Gold drop into the Championship.
Mane is likely to favour remaining in the Premier League to test himself among the best.
The Red Devils will therefore hope to win the race for his signature, landing one of the division’s most impressive teenagers, a player whose first touch has already left many Premier League fans blown away.
