Mathys Tel makes transfer decision on Manchester United move | OneFootball

Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel has given the green light to a move to Manchester United as negotiations continue between the clubs.

Tel has been subject of interest from clubs across Europe after deciding to leave Bayern in search of regular first-team football. The 19-year-old turned down a move to Tottenham earlier this week but is open to a transfer to the Premier League.

Despite interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea, Sky Germany are reporting that Tel has decided on a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils have submitted a loan offer for the French forward, but the proposal was immediately rejected by Bayern. The German side are seeking an obligation to to make the move permanent.

A deal is described as complicated, though talks are ongoing ahead of Monday’s 11pm deadline for Premier League clubs to conclude business. A move to Arsenal has not been ruled out despite Tel’s preference for Old Trafford.

The teenager has started just twice in the Bundesliga this season due to the presence of Harry Kane. His lack of football has stalled his development after a breakthrough campaign last season. Tel scored seven league goals and provided five assists for Bayern in 2023/24, despite starting just six games. He averaged a goal or assist every 86 minutes.

Manchester United are keen to sign another striker with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling for form. The duo have combined for only five Premier League goals so far this season.
