Tottenham Hotspur have included Mathys Tel in their squad to face Slavia Prague today, according to RMC Sports journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Spurs host Slavia this evening in the Champions League, and the 20-year-old has been selected despite not being initially registered for the opening phase of the competition.

Tel replaces Dominic Solanke, who has yet to return from a long-term injury, in the squad.

Solanke joined Tottenham from Bournemouth in a £65 million deal in 2024, and fitness issues have limited his impact.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank dropped Tel for him in the Champions League squad at the start of the season, but has been forced to change his mind.

The French forward now has a chance to prove himself tonight as he is likely to be involved in action.

Tel has not been a regular in the Tottenham starting XI, with only four starts in 13 appearances this term.

However, he has scored two Premier League goals in those limited chances and will be eager to prove himself in the Champions League after finally getting the opportunity under Frank.

The Tottenham boss was asked yesterday whether he has considered bringing Tel into the Champions League squad, given that Solanke is still injured.

He admitted the former Bayern Munich man could be included for the next three league-phase games and that he would have changed his decision to omit him had he known what he knows now.

Spurs are currently 16th in the Champions League table after five games and will need to win against Slavia, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt to book a place in the round of 16.
