Matías Almeyda departs Sevilla, ex-Benfica winner Vlachodimos left without a coach

Sevilla have confirmed the departure of Matías Almeyda as head coach.

The announcement was made on Monday, 23 March, after defeat to Valencia, leaving Odysseas Vlachodimos without a coach.

The club said in a statement that Almeyda had been removed from his post and thanked him and his staff for their work, wishing them well for the future.

Almeyda was appointed this season and took charge of 32 competitive matches, winning 10, drawing seven and losing 15.

He leaves the club 15th in La Liga, 3 points above the first relegation place.

Vlachodimos is away on international duty, called up alongside Vangelis Pavlidis, while the Andalusian board search for the Argentine’s successor.
