Matt Doherty has left Wolves following the expiry of his contract, ending a 13-year association across two spells and 389 appearances.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 34-year-old was not offered a new deal and will become a free agent. He is the club’s 16th highest appearance maker and has been described by Wolves as a club legend.
Doherty joined in 2010 and established himself under Kenny Jackett as Wolves won promotion from League One in 2013/14.
He was integral under Nuno Espirito Santo as Wolves returned to the Premier League, recorded two seventh-placed finishes, reached the FA Cup semi-final and the Europa League quarter-final.
He moved to Spurs in 2020, had a brief stint with Atletico Madrid, then returned to Molineux in 2023. This marks his final exit from the club.
Technical director Matt Jackson praised Doherty as a true Wolverhampton Wanderers man, highlighting his leadership, growth from teenage arrival to senior figure, and example to young players. He called him a valued voice in the dressing room and offered best wishes for the future.
