Milan climbed back inside in the top three of the Serie A at the weekend and could have one foot inside the Champions League spots. But this isn’t enough to guarantee Max Allegri’s stay at the club.
This has been largely covered by Get Italian Football News. But Gazzetta dello Sport today add some more details.
It is believed Allegri hasn’t received any technical guarantees from the club that his demands in the transfer market will be met. He is seeking experienced players like Leon Goretzka, with Milan likely to have other plans.
Even if Champions League qualification goes through and Allegri’s option to renew his contract gets activated, he is likely to look elsewhere. He doesn’t feel his demands are met and he will be more than happy to move on.
While Allegri’s football isn’t always appealing and it is easy to question that, Milan aren’t the most stable club and this has been visible in the last 20 months or so. There is a lack of a larger plan and there were suggestions of internal political battles too.
Situations like that could yet continue and they usually demand a pragmatic manager who overperforms and brings the most out of players who may not be as good as they are. Allegri has done that job this season and also did that at Juventus. That is why there is every chance Milan could end up regretting losing the Italian.
