Max Allegri’s agent takes dig at Milan’s Rafael Leao | OneFootball

Serie A side Milan fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Lazio and now, Max Allegri’s agent has appeared to have taken a dig at Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese was quite disappointing on Sunday and was also taken off because of that. Allegri protected the attacker, who hasn’t always had an excellent relationship with the Rossoneri boss.

There have been suggestions about Leao’s potential new deal at the San Siro, where he could still stay in the long term.

Allegri’s agent Giovanni Branchini has now spoken to Radio Anch’io Sport about the Portugal international’s situation and whether he will stay at Milan or not.

He said – relayed by Calciomercato: “Should Milan still focus on Leao?  The corporate dynamics are complex, Leao is an asset to the club and therefore various factors must be considered.”

Branchini then appeared to take a dig at Leao but also made it clear that he needs to be protected exactly how Allegri has been operating.

“This year he is not making a great contribution, it is clear for everyone to see. He remains an important player and must be defended until the end, as Allegri did yesterday after the match, despite the abrupt outcome of the substitution.”

So far this season, the attacker has scored only nine goals in Serie A. While that isn’t a bad amount, it is easy to see why many expect more from Leao considering his qualities and stature.
