Max Wober expects a quiet market for him and is due to report back to Leeds United after an injury-ravaged Werder Bremen loan with only three appearances.

“So far, relatively little. I'm pretty sure I won't be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore. That much is clear to me. We'll see how things develop.” He told DAB Der Audiobeweis.

He joined Bremen on loan in July last year, suffered a hamstring injury on his August debut, and did not play competitively again until 26 April after a winter friendly brought a calf tear.

Bremen are believed to hold an option to buy, though that looks unlikely after so little football. As things stand he is in line for a second Leeds return, having left for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023.

That calf issue proved more serious than first thought, with tendon involvement, and he missed Austria’s World Cup squad this summer.

“I'm assuming I'll return for pre-season training as normal,” he added. “And I think after an injury like that, you simply need training sessions with the team, friendlies where you get that feeling in your body again that you're fit, that everything's working, and that everything's holding up. “So it's really important for me to participate in preseason training again. And then we'll see what happens next, what Leeds’ plan is, what's happening in the transfer market. Things can change drastically in football. So I'll just take it as it comes.”
