Kylian Mbappé continues to shine for Real Madrid, firmly stamping his authority on the 2025/26 season.

His brace in the 3–0 win over Athletic Club took him to 16 LaLiga goals, strengthening his position as the league’s top scorer and edging him ever closer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s historic calendar-year record at the club.

The French international has now netted 55 goals for Real Madrid in 2025 - a tally bettered only by Cristiano Ronaldo, who hit 59 in 2013, 58 in 2012 and 56 in 2014, figures that still set the benchmark to beat.

Mbappé still has four matches left before the end of 2025: a Champions League showdown with Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu, and three LaLiga fixtures against Celta de Vigo, Deportivo Alavés and Sevilla.

Given the level he has shown throughout the year, many expect the French forward to surpass the Portuguese legend’s record and become Real Madrid’s highest scorer in a single calendar year.
