Real Madrid moved within a point of LaLiga leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 win over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday.

England international Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 38th minute, rising above Lucien Agoume to power home a header from Rodrygo’s precise delivery. Despite Sevilla creating a number of chances, Madrid maintained control for long periods.

The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute when Marcão received a second yellow card for a foul on Bellingham.

Los Blancos capitalised on the numerical advantage, and Kylian Mbappé sealed the win in the 86th minute, converting a penalty after Rodrygo was fouled by Juanlu Sánchez. The goal also saw Mbappé equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid record of 59 goals in a calendar year.

Real Madrid now keep up the pressure on Barcelona at the top of the table, while Sevilla must regroup ahead of their next LaLiga outing.
