Kylian Mbappé says he is in good physical condition ahead of France national football team’s upcoming World Cup warm-up match against Brazil national football team, dismissing speculation over a chronic knee problem.
The forward explained that the issue, which sidelined him for around a month and required careful management afterwards, has now been resolved. Mbappé stressed that he deliberately took precautions to avoid aggravating the injury further - a decision he believes reflects his growing maturity.
“I wanted to take every precaution to avoid suffering other injuries in other parts of my body. It’s hard to sit on the bench. Years ago, I would have made the mistake of wanting to come back too soon. You have to stay calm,” he said.
Mbappé insisted his recovery is progressing well despite persistent rumours about his fitness.
“My knee is fine. It is improving. It is going very well, and I know there has been a lot of speculation about it and some false things have been said. It is the life of an elite athlete — we are used to people saying things without checking or having any basis.”
The 27-year-old also made it clear he will not ease off against Brazil despite the fixture being a friendly, highlighting the importance of maintaining rhythm ahead of the FIFA World Cup. ????????????????
“It is a friendly, but when you play against Brazil, the biggest nation in football, with five World Cup titles, it is incredible. It is a team that can win the World Cup. We are not going there on holiday - we are going there to prepare for the World Cup.”
Mbappé added that his approach at club level remains unchanged as he continues his preparations with Real Madrid.
“I want to play every game for Real Madrid. I am not going to change the way I prepare. I have always prepared for the World Cup by playing, scoring goals and fighting for my club.”
Mbappé has featured 35 times for Real Madrid so far this season, scoring 38 goals and registering five assists as he continues to play a central role for the Spanish giants.
