McTominay on Napoli pressure, De Bruyne injury and mocking Hojlund at Halloween | OneFootball

Scott McTominay knows he ‘has to adapt’ now that he is no longer a surprise at Napoli, and with Kevin De Bruyne’s absence through injury, but reveals a Rasmus Hojlund faux pas.

McTominay no longer a Serie A surprise

Antonio Conte commented that now he is no longer considered an underdog, opposition teams are treating him differently and creating cages to limit his influence on the game.

“If teams or managers try to mark me a different way, so be it, I just have to adapt and manage my game in a different way,” McTominay told DAZN Italia.

“I’m not thinking about this to be honest, I’m just thinking about my team, trying to give my absolute best and bring home the three points.”

De Bruyne has been ruled out for three to four months after surgery on a high grade muscle tear, which he sustained during the 3-1 victory over Inter.

With that in mind, Napoli reshuffled their tactics and are returning to a 4-3-3 formation.

“Of course, any team that loses such a player will find itself in a different situation. However, we have a lot of high level players who need to step up now in Kevin’s absence. We have so many games, it’s important we all perform at the top level to give our all in every match.”

Hojlund returns to the starting XI this evening, but the former Manchester United striker went viral for having the weakest costume at the Napoli Halloween party.

“He had to pay for the dinner! Not the whole thing, but we told him he had to pay. We all had a nice evening, it was good,” revealed McTominay, who went all out with a skeleton costume.
