AC Milan have put off investing in a centre-forward for quite some time, and the issue is beginning to cause some fans to lose patience.
It feels like if Christian Pulisic or Tijjani Reijnders don’t find the net then Milan struggle, as seen in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari. Alvaro Morata did bag the Rossoneri’s only goal but he isn’t scoring frequently enough, while Tammy Abraham missed multiple big chances.
This is why a quality reinforcement becomes necessary to raise the level of the attack, but – as Lorenzo and Stefano spoke about in the latest video on our channel – there has been a neglect regarding investment in the position.
The Rossoneri from 2020 to today have spent a total of €16m on strikers, spread over 11 players. It of course factors in only transfer fees and not wages or signing bonuses. Of that total, €14m was on Morata in the summer, the price of his release clause.
With all the links to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Santiago Gimenez and others in recent windows, it sees as though the directors keep going for the low-risk option.
In the meantime, Inter have Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, Atalanta are seeing goals from multiple sources, Juventus invested in Dusan Vlahovic, while Napoli had Victor Osimhen and now Romelu Lukaku.
