Memphis Depay has hired a marketing specialist to help secure sponsors to cover his wages and keep him at Corinthians beyond 20 June, according to Meu Timao.

His camp and the club are working in tandem, opening talks with brands and aligning commercial givebacks built around the forward’s image.

At least six companies are in discussions, with some negotiations described as advanced.

The board has not ruled out Ezze Seguros joining the project, though there are no talks on his renewal. Weekend posts by the club sparked fan speculation after highlighting Memphis in a video.

Any approach to Ezze relates to Depay fronting a new product as an ambassador, and the insurer’s deal with Corinthians also runs out at the end of June.

Depay returned after two months out in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Atlético Mineiro and shared imagery from Ezze’s campaign. His representative is in Brazil to discuss next steps.

The hierarchy say his stay depends on partners helping fund his salary. Depay has accepted a reduced package and has engaged fan-group leaders to underline his wish to remain.

Talks with Esportes da Sorte have cooled and they are unlikely to be the partner. Depay’s September 2024 contract is worth around R$ 3 million a month, and a prior R$ 57 million allocation is no longer dedicated to him. About R$ 40 million in accrued bonuses must be renegotiated, and talks could extend into the World Cup, when he might play unattached.
