Memphis posts cryptic message on eve of Corinthians renewal | OneFootball

Memphis Depay posted a cryptic update as his Corinthians renewal nears, saying he was waiting like everyone and that big things are about to be revealed again.

According to Meu Timao, he is expected to land in São Paulo on Thursday morning to finalise a deal until mid-2028. He also shared a Hypebeast shot wearing a chain with the club crest.

Talks accelerated after agreement on key terms. His current contract ends next Friday, and a two-year extension was accepted after an initial push for three seasons.

Memphis has agreed to a pay cut. The club will also stop covering his housing and security, previously costing about R$ 250,000 per month for lodging.

To complement earnings, his camp proposed commercial activations, and one is already set with Ezze Seguros, a club sponsor.

He has not played since 25 June, when the Netherlands beat Tunisia 3-1 at the World Cup, then came a break after a round-of-32 exit to Morocco.

Corinthians are not planning to use him against Athletico-PR on Thursday.

After routine medicals, he is expected to be available for the Copa do Brasil last-16 first leg at Internacional on Sunday, with more minutes possible in the 6 August return.

In 2026 he has 14 appearances for Corinthians, with one goal and one assist. Since 2024 he has 79 games, 20 goals, 15 assists and three trophies.
