Real Madrid would feel more inclined to part ways with Aurelien Tchouameni this summer if they land one of their midfield targets to replace him.

According to Tyrone Marshall of Manchester Evening News, the Frenchman’s exit would likely hinge on whether Madrid can add either Rodri or Enzo Fernandez to their ranks.

United revive longstanding interest in Tchouameni

It comes amid rumoured interest from Manchester United, who have added Tchouameni to their shortlist ahead of a major midfield overhaul in the coming transfer window.

Club chiefs are aware it will take more than one signing to successfully succeed seasoned veteran Casemiro, while Manuel Ugarte is also poised to depart and would, therefore, need replacing before 2025/2026 gets underway.

Add that to the fact that United will have Champions League football to account for for the first time since 2023/2024, and you can understand why there’s a growing sense that INEOS really need to get this window right.

However, he, understandably, rebuffed a host of Premier League suitors to make the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2022, signing a six-year deal until June 2028.

Why Tchouameni is being tipped for a Los Blancos exit

The fact he’s now approaching the latter stages of his contract has prompted speculation that he could be on the move, and United are set to be front of the queue if he’s made available in the coming months.

Of course, provided the 26-year-old stays fit in the final weeks of the season, his full focus will be on the forthcoming World Cup, where he’s a shoo-in to represent his nation on the biggest stage once again in hopes of making up for their final defeat in 2022.

From there, though, Tchouameni might consider where his future lies, especially if Madrid have overseen a rare trophyless campaign come the end of May.
