Toulouse won 4-3 at Metz with a stoppage-time winner, as Yann Gboho and Aron Dönnum were involved in every goal.
According to L'Équipe, the pair embodied the visitors’ belief, and both were rated seven. Dönnum struck with his left on six minutes, his fifth of the season and fourth in Ligue 1, then a deft touch in the build-up preceded Gboho’s finish on 14 minutes.
Metz replied when Giorgi Tsitaichvili set up Nathan Mbala on 30 minutes and Kouao on 31. Gboho restored the lead at 45+3 with a right-footed stunner, taking his season tally to 10, split eight in Ligue 1 and two in the cup. He was quieter after the break.
Less secure defensively, Dönnum finished strongly, supplying the cross for Sauer’s 90+9 clincher.
Tsitaichvili earned seven for a lively outing. Mbala also received seven on his first Ligue 1 start in six appearances, scoring with a fine left-foot finish before making way for Habib Diallo on 70 minutes.
For Metz, centre-back Michel Mboula was rated three after a difficult night, while Jessy Deminguet got four and was replaced by Alpha Touré on 70 minutes. Djibril Sidibé was rated four, short of aggression on Metz’s first two goals.
