Michael Carrick says he is making decisions based on the long-term benefits for Manchester United, regardless of whether he is at the club next season or not.
Carrick was appointed on a deal until the end of the season following United’s decision to sack Ruben Amorim, and has won six out of his seven games in charge so far.
“It’s going to be every week, isn’t it?” Carrick responded when asked about his future beyond this season.
“There’s no getting away from the situation, of course not. There’s not really an awful lot I can say about it, to be honest.
“I love being here, I love doing what I’m doing. I’ve said it from the start, I’m not making any decisions for short-term or quick fixes, I think it’s the responsibility, however long I’m here, is to make decisions that are best for the football club in the long-term.
“Of course, winning games helps and the boys are doing great with that. We’ll just have to see where it ends up.
“There’s not really much I can give you on top of that at the moment.”

Carrick will hope to maintain his unbeaten start at United when they take on Newcastle on Wednesday.
Winger Amad could earn a recall after being dropped to the bench in the win over Crystal Palace and Carrick has hailed his response to being left out of the starting line-up.
“He’s such a dream to work with,” Carrick said.
“His attitude, he’s so positive. He wants to learn. He wants to keep pushing. He asks for more. What can I do more? How can I improve? He’s desperate to do well.
“He’s been a huge part of the team and he will be. Sometimes it’s the eye-catching bits and the bits that we know he can bring and other times it’s his work off the ball and defending. That’s huge to be able to do that for that type of player.”
