Michael Olise has reflected on the 2026 World Cup in an Instagram message, calling the failure to bring the trophy home a huge disappointment while thanking France’s supporters. The Bayern Munich forward said in a post that representing France at a World Cup had always been, and would remain, a dream.

The tournament did not finish as the squad had imagined, and he would have preferred to be saying they had won it together with team-mates, staff, coaches and fans.

Named the Bundesliga’s best player, the London-born attacker highlighted his pride at setting the record for most assists in a single World Cup, with seven.

The group’s driving aim remains to give supporters emotion, and they hope to offer new joy and unforgettable memories in future.

Olise also devoted a paragraph to Didier Deschamps, thanking the former France head coach for handing him his first cap and believing in him during difficult moments, and wishing him well whatever path he chooses. The 2024 Olympic silver medallist signed off, “Merci la France”.
