Rob Edwards has been linked with taking over Wolves since the sacking of Vitor Pereira last weekend
Middlesbrough have accused Wolves of breaching Premier League rules over their approach for manager Rob Edwards.
It has been reported by John Percy that the Championship side have criticised the top flight team for acting below the expected standards.
The 42-year-old’s future has been the subject of intense speculation this week following the dismissal of Vitor Pereira at Molineux.
Edwards spent four years with the club as a player, and even worked as an interim manager previously, giving him strong ties to the club.
He was only appointed as Middlesbrough manager in the summer in place of Michael Carrick, and he has been praised for the team’s strong start to the campaign.

Middlesbrough have reportedly accused Wolves of breaking the Premier League regulations regarding the approach of potential managers.
The Teesside outfit have criticised their top flight rivals amid speculation that Edwards could be the replacement to Pereira.
"Unfortunately Wolves have behaved at a standard less than we expect and we believe their conduct is in breach of PL regulations,” said Middlesbrough, via John Percy on X.
It has been reported by Sky Sports that Edwards has been stood down from his position as Boro manager for Saturday’s clash against Birmingham City.
It remains to be seen whether he will return to the club, with the international break set to follow, which will give Middlesbrough some time to sort out this situation.
Edwards’ pre-match press conference for the Blues game was cancelled on Friday, sparking further speculation over his future at the Riverside, and as per talkSPORT's Alex Crook, Boro are said to be resigned to now losing their manager after less than six months in the job.
It’s been claimed that the former Luton Town boss did not take training either, with the former Wales international defender - once an under-18's manager and first-team coach at Wolves - emerging as the front-runner to take over at Molineux.
The Midlands outfit are at risk of relegation following their poor start, so are hoping to bring Edwards in to stave off the threat of suffering the drop.

The relationship between Edwards and Middlesbrough is at risk of being soured, which will make it very difficult for him to continue on as manager if he doesn’t take over at Wolves.
It’s clear that the 42-year-old is open to a return to Molineux, and the chance to work in the Premier League again will be very tempting.
The risk of relegation is now quite relevant for Wolves given their poor start, as well as their generally limited squad, but there are also no guarantees that Middlesbrough will be able to sustain a promotion push.
Supporters will be disappointed if he leaves due to their strong start to the season, but the accusation of a rules breach adds an element of toxicity that could really blow up in the Championship side’s face.
