Mikel Merino continued his outstanding run of goalscoring form for Spain with a double in a 4-0 win over Bulgaria.
The Arsenal midfielder has been in electric form for his country, scoring six goals in his last four games.
He helped Spain continue their perfect World Cup qualification record, scoring the first and second goals for his team in the victory against Bulgaria.
The Spaniards sit top of their qualifying group with four wins from four and are yet to concede a goal.
Fellow Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi also started the game, playing just over an hour.
Elsewhere, Merino’s Gunners team-mate Riccardo Calafiori started and played the whole game as Italy beat Israel 3-0.
Italy are still behind Martin Odegaard’s Norway in their group, however, and look set to go through the play-offs if they are to qualify for the World Cup.
Bukayo Saka got an assist in England’s 5-0 win over Latvia, with club team-mates Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly also starting the clash.
Rice played an hour of the game while Lewis-Skelly played the entirety.
