Mikel Vesga ‘to sign for’ Almería as Segunda move nears | OneFootball

Mikel Vesga, 33, is close to joining Almería in Segunda División, if nothing goes wrong and with final details still to be agreed.

According to Diario de Almería, the Andalusian side have overtaken Mallorca and their offer has convinced Ibaigane and the player. The report says he will sign a two or three-year contract to offset the two million gross he would give up from the final year of his deal.

He and Julen Agirrezabala are the only fit players yet to feature in Athletic’s friendlies under Terzic, a clear sign his future lies away from Lezama.

Vesga has one year left on his Athletic contract, to June 2027. He has played 275 official matches across 10 seasons for the club, excluding loans at Sporting and Leganés.

In Almería he would link up with former Athletic forward Jon Morcillo. The club’s aim this season is to fight for a return to Primera.
