Milan have agreed a basic €6m fee with Manchester United for the loan of Rasmus Hojlund, claim reports, and are negotiating an option to buy for €40m, but have not spoken directly to the striker.

The last few days have seen reports of on-going negotiations around the Denmark international, who will have even less opportunity for playing time now that his club invested so heavily in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

However, Sportitalia point out that the situation is still at a very early stage, because Milan did not communicate directly with either the club or player’s entourage.

They have been using intermediaries appointed to sound out the circumstances and mood within Old Trafford first before deciding whether to pursue the matter further.

Calciomercato.com claim that Manchester United would be ready to let Hojlund go out on loan for a fee of €6m, if Milan promised to cover his entire €4m per season net salary.

They might even be prepared to allow an option to make it permanent at the end of the season and that is being discussed right now.

The issue might be convincing Hojlund to accept the transfer, as he seems determined to fight it out for his place in the Premier League.

Milan have not yet talked directly to the former Atalanta player, so hope that this would break down his doubts.

Amongst the problems is that the Rossoneri have not qualified for Europe, so his only competitions would be Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
