Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has blasted Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter for treating San Siro as a commercial venture.
During his recent interview via FCInterNews, Sala confirmed the dossier will reach ‘the executive committee in the coming days.’
Inter and Milan have been trying to purchase San Siro and the surrounding areas.
However, the process has proved long and arduous, with bureaucratic issues slowing down talks.
For Inter owners Oaktree Capital, this is an opportunity to build their legacy and reshape the club’s infrastructure.
Therefore, the 20-time Italian champions are pushing hard to get the deal over the line.
Furthermore, Inter’s interest aligns with Milan’s ambition to secure long-term control over the stadium.
The bottom line is that the city of Milan’s stature deserves a state-of-the-art stadium.
With the deadline approaching, both clubs are waiting for the city’s final approval before moving forward with any plans.

“We are finalizing the agreement on the sale of the stadium, which is not yet defined, but I hope to close it very soon,” Sala confirmed.
“The so-called discount is zero. There is no discount, only a shared participation in expenses, which comes either from remediation laws or from our requests, such as relocating the stadium.
“Timing? If not next week, then the following one. There is still room for negotiation.
“I hope we will reach a final agreement with the clubs in the coming days.
“Then, we’ll bring it to the executive committee, the commissions, and the Council.
“It’s clear everyone does their part.
“However, I believe that a mayor, faced with a problem, cannot turn away and must take a clear position.
“When selling an important public asset like the stadium, the City Council must decide.
“I want to be at peace with my conscience, having done my work and delivered the dossier to the Council. Then it will decide.
“I submit it recommending approval. But from there, I can do nothing more; it will be up to the Council to decide whether this sale makes sense or not.
“We may miss owners like Moratti or Berlusconi. I personally miss Moratti and send him my regards.
“But today, the clubs see the stadium as a business opportunity. We will move forward.”
