Milan want Hjulmand, who is expecting to leave Sporting CP

According to various reports over the last few days, Sporting midfielder Hjulmand is one of Ruben Amorim’s first-choice signings in his new role as head coach of Milan. The former Lecce man is already familiar with life in Italy as he is working under Amorim and his 3-4-2-1 system.

Portuguese outlet Record claims that Hjulmand is so keen on the idea of a move to Milan that he has already said goodbye to his teammates and the coaching staff at Sporting, that he is keen for a new experience abroad and that he wishes to have his next move arranged before the start of pre-season.

Hjulmand had been close to leaving Sporting last summer, and reports over the last few days indicate that there was a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to allow the player to leave for a reasonable fee in the summer of 2026.

While a price tag in the region of €45m had been touted a few days ago, reports from Calciomercato.com claim that Milan could strike a deal with Sporting in the region of €35m-€40m.
