The legendary forward signed a two-year extension this time last season, but announced last week that he will leave the club at the end of this season.

Since that announcement many teams from across world football have been linked with a move for the 33-year-old, including teams from Europe, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

One of the clubs linked with a move is Galatasaray, who have played against Liverpool three times this season, with the Turkish club viewing Salah as a dream target.

It isn’t clear where Salah will end up yet, but a move to Galatasaray could have big upside for the Reds.

Salah to Galatasaray would pave the way for Liverpool transfer

As well as playing them on several occasions this season, Liverpool have also been linked with a few Galatasaray players in recent months.

The biggest rumour came in the winter transfer window, when the Reds were heavily linked with a move for Hungarian fullback Roland Sallai.

A deal for Sallai never materialised, but rumours of a Merseyside move haven’t ceased, and the Premier League champions could return for the 28-year-old in the summer.

Any deal for Salah would be costly for Galatasaray, the club understand this according to journalist Ismael Mahmoud, who recently confirmed that signing the Egyptian has been a ‘major dream’ for the Super Lig leaders for ‘two or three years’.

If the Turkish giants were forced to sell several stars in order to raise funds to pay Salah’s wage, the door could open for Sallai to finally make the switch to Anfield.

The Hungarian has historically been used as a winger for the majority of his career but has shone this season whilst being deployed at right-back for his club.

Valued at €11 million (~£9.5m) by FootballTransfers, Sallai would represent a good value addition for Liverpool, able to provide cover at right-back and further forward similar to Jeremie Frimpong.

It will take a significant offer from Galatasaray to get Salah to Turkey, but that could then open the door for Liverpool to finally get Sallai through the door at Anfield.
