Luka Modric intends to spend another year with Milan and, barring a surprise 180, it’ll be official soon, while Adrien Rabiot basically confirmed after the third-place final in the World Cup that he’s not going anywhere.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Croatian legend hashed things out with his family and decided to keep playing. The economic part wasn’t key in his call, and he’ll most likely have the same salary as last season, €3.5M.

New Milan coach Ruben Amorim has had more than a few chats with Modric and Rabiot since being hired. The Rossoneri have grown increasingly confident about their permanence in the last couple of weeks. The former Real Madrid icon will likely play less frequently than in 2025/2026, but he’ll remain an integral part of their design. He recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in 37 appearances last season.

The news has been well-received by the locker room, given his positive presence and leadership. Instead, the Frenchman quieted the scuttlebutt about his departure when asked whether he would restart from the Rossoneri (via Fantacalcio).

The management had probably known for a while; otherwise, they would have been more determined in trying to acquire Morten Hjulmand. They might be set in midfield, unless they sell two of Youssef Fofana, Samuele Ricci, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Conversely, it’ll be interesting to see whether the aging superstar will indeed be used sparingly and in which role. It’s mighty hard to renounce his class and command if he’s in good shape.
