Mohamed Salah returned to action for Liverpool against Brighton, coming on in the 26th minute to a rousing ovation at Anfield.
L'Équipe notes that the 33-year-old, back in the matchday group, had been left on the bench against Leeds then omitted for Tuesday's Champions League tie against Inter Milan.
Liverpool led 1-0 after just 47 seconds, Hugo Ekitike putting the hosts in front against the Seagulls.
Joe Gomez then went off injured, and Salah replaced the right-back. Dominik Szoboszlai dropped from the right wing into defence. Anfield sang his name as he entered.
On his first touch, Salah drew several Brighton defenders before releasing Alexis Mac Allister, whose cross towards Hugo Ekitike was turned away by Bart Verbruggen in the 27th minute.
It could be his final outing for the Reds, though he is under contract until 2027.
