The contract will take her stay at the club to seven years, after joining Tottenham from Reading in 2021.

Tottenham vice-captain Bartrip has become one of the club’s most consistent performers since her arrival at the club.

She played every minute for Spurs during the Women’s Super League (WSL) in the 2024-25 season, having previously done so in 2021-22.

The 2024-25 season was a disappointing one for Tottenham who finished 11th in the WSL, with just five wins from their 22 games. This led to the sacking of Robert Vilahamn, with the club still on the hunt for a replacement.

However, Bartrip – who has made 94 appearances in total for Spurs – was keen to prolong her stay with the club.

What Molly Bartrip said about new Tottenham contract

Molly Bartrip has declared Tottenham as her “home” after agreeing a new three-year contract with the WSL side.

The 29-year-old told Tottenham’s official website: “I’m really excited, I’m proud and really happy to be here.

“Spurs is my home, I think I have known that since the moment I have walked through the door four years ago, I feel safe and I genuinely feel like I can be the best person and footballer here.”

“I have had my own battles so I want to feel like I have the right support around me, to also help me as a person but then on the pitch too, to be able to get better at the end of the day. So those were my key reasons to why I wanted to stay but, ultimately, the Club’s ambition is exactly what I want and I’m excited to be here.

“There’s still more from me and I’m still hungry to get more, and hopefully we can win things here because, for me, that would be a dream.”

During her time at Tottenham, she has opened up on her experiences with mental health issues. She was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at the age of 14, and also suffered from “severe anxiety and depression” while playing at Reading from 2014 to 2011.

She told the Athletic that she still has panic attacks, but is proud of Tottenham for supporting the mental health of the women’s team by employing a psychologist and a nutritionist.

Bartrip’s volunteering experience in Tanzania

Tottenham also revealed during the announcement of the contract extension for Molly Bartrip, that the club’s vice-captain has done some volunteering in Tanzania since the end of the 2024-25 season.

She went to the country in East Africa for two weeks where she volunteered in childcare.

Bartrip told the club’s website: “I met some amazing people there too, people I will remember for rest of my life and hopefully be friends with for the rest of my life.”

The 29-year-old agreed a new deal with Tottenham on her return back to England, and will now look ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, where Spurs will hope to improve on a disappointing prior campaign.
