Paul Pogba (32) was cruelly robbed of his chance to make a long-awaited return to professional football earlier this month. It was announced that La Pioche, after an absence of over two years, was set to feature for the first time in an AS Monaco jersey, against Paris FC.
However, two days before that game, Pogba suffered a setback, a grade two ankle sprain, from which he is now recovering. Sébastien Pocognoli said earlier this week that he expects the Frenchman to be back, after the international break, for the game against Stade Rennais on 22nd November.
Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, has now confirmed that timeline and has spoken about the player’s long-awaited return.
“We expect him to be available (against Rennes). As you know, he was close to starting his journey in Monaco; he had some small issues. We expect that he can have some minutes and start to show himself in Ligue 1,” said Scuro in a mixed zone interview attended by Get French Football News.
It isn’t just Pogba who Monaco will be counting on the other side of the international break. The likes of Denis Zakaria (who came off the bench during the 4-1 defeat to RC Lens on Saturday night), Lamine Camara, Eric Dier, Vanderson, and Lukas Hradecky are all also expected back imminently. “So many key players will be back, and that will make us stronger,” added Scuro.
