Benfica’s director of women’s football, Mónica Jorge, has given testimony to the Portuguese federation’s Disciplinary Board after an incident during a decisive match at Braga on 25 April, alleging she was struck and threatened by a football agent.
Record reports that proceedings have been opened against Daniel Lopes over an alleged assault on Jorge, and that she has confirmed receiving threats.
In her account, she was approached at the entrance to the presidential tribune by a person she identified as the football agent Daniela Lopes, in the stands of the Braga ground.
She says the agent slapped her on the back and issued threats, stating the matter would not end there and that she would not always escape her. Daniela Lopes represents Benfica players Carole Costa and Beatriz Cameirão.
A document attached to the case states the agent sat in the home section, waited for Jorge to leave the tribune, and the approach was witnessed and confirmed at the time by Carla Abilheira, coordinator at Estádio Amélia Morais.
The same file notes a prior history of threats attributed to the agent, including phone messages and previous in-person approaches at Estádio da Luz. It adds that these episodes are known to Benfica’s president and that the reported situation was also communicated directly to the Sp. Braga president.
