Iván Jaime’s spell at Montréal appears to be nearing its end after the MLS club failed to agree a fee with FC Porto to buy the on-loan midfielder.
According to O Jogo, Montréal pushed for a reduced price but negotiations stalled, leaving the 25-year-old’s future in Canada uncertain.
Jaime has one goal and one assist in 12 MLS appearances, plus one goal in a match in the Canadian championship. The option to buy stood at 5 million euros in January, rising to 5.5 million at the end of the season.
The report added that Porto were willing to drop the price to 2.5 million euros, yet Montréal sought to pay less and talks were broken off.
Montréal have one game left before the loan is finalised, against DC United. If Jaime plays at least 45 minutes, the move would become permanent automatically, so he is unlikely to feature.
