Gibbs-White’s future is uncertain at the moment as he is at the centre of a transfer saga involving the two Premier League clubs after his £60m release clause was activated last week.
Forest are unhappy with Spurs’ approach for the England international, claiming the north London outfit were never granted permission to speak to the 25-year-old.
It has been reported that Gibbs-White wants his future sorted before Forest head off to Portugal for a pre-season training camp. In addition, it is understood that whilst the midfielder is pushing to join Spurs, he is remaining professional.
Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are understandably keen to hold on to Gibbs-White and the head coach has selected the midfielder in the starting line-up for this afternoon’s friendly against Monaco.
Whether that means a definitive decision has been made remains to be seen, but Forest certainly have no qualms about risking a potential deal if Gibbs-White was to sustain an injury.
New Spurs head coach Thomas Frank was quizzed about a potential deal for Gibbs-White when facing the media on Friday. Though he was tight-lipped about the situation.
"You know me well, so I'll use what I've done all the time," Frank said.
"I'll not speak about players that are not mine. I think I've done two exceptions and they're getting older, that's [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi.
“The rest I'll just speak about the players that are inside the squad of Tottenham."
