Real Madrid are pressing ahead for next season, and Florentino Pérez has reportedly reached an agreement with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, even as José Mourinho remains unconfirmed and still at Benfica. According to Onda Cero, the France international is out of contract at Liverpool and set to leave, with Madrid moving to secure him.

AS reports that Mourinho has already conducted a detailed review of Madrid's squad, identifying needs in defence, midfield and at full-back, and calling for additions to raise competition. He remains linked with the Bernabéu, a scenario that could open the door for Marco Silva to Benfica.

Konaté, 27, was tracked by PSG, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United. Pérez is said to have moved early to win the player's preference, addressing one of the positions the club consider a priority.

The timing is sensitive, with Real Madrid's presidential elections scheduled for seven June. Pérez continues to shape the sporting project while final decisions around the coaching situation remain pending.

Mourinho's potential departure from Benfica therefore hinges on developments in Madrid. Should the bench change hands, it could trigger movement in Lisbon.
