Lorenzo Lucca’s bleak Premier League run continues. He turned down Benfica and José Mourinho in the winter window to join Nottingham Forest after a low-key first half at Napoli.

A Bola reports that Forest, coached by Vítor Pereira, are not interested in activating the purchase option on his Napoli loan.

His displays have not persuaded the board, led by Evangelos Marinakis, to pay about 35 million euros for a permanent deal. He was also quickly caught up in a controversy after arriving in England.

Lucca has struggled to impose himself even before Pereira’s arrival. The Napoli loanee has featured for Nottingham, but low output and inconsistency have counted against him. So far he has scored only one goal, against Leeds United.

If Forest choose not to activate the clause, his spell in England could end with a return to Italy. He would then become an issue for Napoli, where former Benfica player David Neres features.
