Murilo’s knee injury could hand Bruno Fuchs a recall to Palmeiras’ starting side against Vasco on Thursday, in round five of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

According to Nosso Palestra, Murilo suffered a sprain to his left knee with medial collateral ligament damage and is expected to miss out. He had partnered Gustavo Gómez during the Paulista title campaign and in recent matches.

Fuchs has sat out the last five games, his longest spell without playing since joining the club. His most recent appearance was the 1-1 draw with Guarani on 15 February, when he started and completed the match.

Since then he has been named in the squad but stayed on the bench as Abel Ferreira kept the same defence.

Fuchs is the immediate alternative in central defence. Benedetti, who began the year with the first team, has returned to the Under-20s to bolster their Brasileiro and Libertadores campaigns.

He arrived last season on loan in a deal that involved full-back Caio Paulista moving to Atlético-MG. After earning opportunities under Abel Ferreira in 2025, he signed permanently until 2029.

This year he has lost ground with Murilo back in contention alongside Gustavo Gómez. So far he has featured in five of Palmeiras’ 16 matches in 2026, all as a starter in the Paulista first phase against Portuguesa, Mirassol, São Paulo, Botafogo-SP and Guarani.
