Former Roma man Radja Nainggolan addressed the team’s positive streak in Serie A and the Giallorossi’s chances to get access to Champions League football.
In an interview with ControCalcio, Nainggolan said, “When the team is on a winning streak like that, you can’t help but believe in Top 4.”
“It’s definitely something Ranieri has put into the players’ heads. At the beginning he said, “let’s think game by game.” The first two went badly, then he got into the players’ heads and now they have other goals to play for.”
“I think he wants to keep everything as calm and quiet as possible, but I think deep down they all believe in something extraordinary. If Roma were to finish in the top four, we’d all say, “Who would have expected that?”
“The next coach? It depends on what kind of football they want to propose. Roma today is not always beautiful to watch, but it is a Roma that works: playing badly it wins, playing well it wins, there is not much to change in my opinion.”
“Gasperini? For me he is a strong coach, just look at what he did with Atalanta. But if you put a coach like him at Roma, then too much work is needed to make it become “his” team.”
