Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka has been sent home from international duty with Slovakia, as there are fears he could be out for three to four weeks.

The player limped off during the 2-1 Serie A victory over Genoa on Sunday evening, along with teammate Matteo Politano.

While Politano had already been exempted from the Italy call-up, Lobotka flew to Slovakia and was checked over by their medical staff.

A statement from the Federation confirmed that the test results made clear he was in no position to play the upcoming matches, so he returned to Italy.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the adductor issue is expected to keep Lobotka out of action for approximately three to four weeks.

This setback further limits the options at the disposal of coach Antonio Conte in Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.

Lobotka has struggled with injuries in recent months, most notably a thigh strain in October last year, then an ankle sprain that he took three weeks to shrug off in May.
