Napoli returned to winning ways after more than a month versus Fiorentina, although they stopped and outplayed Inter during their slide. Their small injury crisis is about to end, as they could be in full force for Sunday’s game against Venezia, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.
Pasquale Mazzocchi and David Neres returned to full training on Tuesday and will be back with the squad for the next round. The speedster has missed four consecutive matches. However, Giacomo Raspadori compensated for his absence by scoring thrice during such a span.
Antonio Conte switched from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 to better plug the holes, and that won’t change in short order. The former Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk will only see limited minutes against Venezia to avoid a relapse. But it’ll be a topic of conversation after the break.
The Partenopei might even have Frank Anguissa back for the tilt with the Lagunari, as his recovery has been faster than anticipated. He’ll make the bench if he confirms his progress. Instead, the Azzurri are closely monitoring Scott McTominay, who started versus Fiorentina despite some muscle fatigue and left a little early because of it.
Conte will likely ride the hot hand a while longer until Neres is 100 percent, but it’ll be hard to keep him out for long. At the same time, Raspadori deserves to play, but it’s not easy to find a scheme that fits them both without excluding somebody pivotal in other roles. Still, it’s a nice problem to have compared to their recent ones. The draw against Inter might end up being a seminal turning point of the season.
