Nathaniel Brown reflects on choosing Germany over USA ahead of World Cup warm-up friendly | OneFootball

Born in Amberg to an American father and a German mother, Nathaniel Brown had the choice between two national teams.

For the 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt left-back, however, there was never really any doubt that he wanted to represent Germany, for whom he made his debut in October 2025.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Germany’s friendly against the United States on Saturday, Brown said:

“For me it was clear that I only wanted to play for Germany, because I was born in Germany and grew up with my mother.”

Brown also highlighted the importance of Saturday’s match, which will be Germany’s final test before the World Cup.

“It’s very important for us as a team that we know where we stand, because it is the last match before the World Cup,” Brown said.

“We want to make it a positive one and we are very much looking forward to the game.”

The match will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago, with kick-off scheduled for Saturday at 20:30 CEST.
