Leeds United Under-21s look to end their National League Cup campaign on a high when they make the trip to face Gateshead FC in Group D on Wednesday evening.
Crowned champions of the inaugural edition of the competition last campaign, Scott Gardner’s side have won once and lost twice in their opening three encounters.
Despite falling to defeats against Boston United and FC Halifax Town, the Whites produced a brilliant display in a 3-1 victory over Scunthorpe United.
In that game, Harry Gray’s hat-trick propelled Leeds to a dominant win at the Attis Arena with Rory Mahady also impressing between the posts, leading to the Scotland youth international joining the Iron on loan.
Most recently, United fought hard against an experienced Accrington Stanley side in Lancashire, losing 3-2 to close out their Vertu Trophy campaign despite a brace from Gray.
Leeds sit seventh in the National League Cup standings. Gateshead, meanwhile, are eighth having drawn one and lost two.
On league duties, Alun Armstrong’s team have struggled to start the season and find themselves 19th with four straight losses. The latest came on the weekend at home to Boreham Wood.
In this fixture last season, the Whites were victorious 2-1 with Rhys Chadwick and Connor Douglas both netting for Leeds.
Action from the Gateshead International Stadium gets underway at 7:30pm.
