The Spanish National team comfortably put four goals past Georgia in their international fixture last night, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring a brace, and Ferran Torres and Martin Zubimendi racking up the other goals.
Further, they also maintained a clean sheet and took their tally in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers to 15 points.
Ahead of kickoff, however, the manager made a shocking decision to leave Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen out of the match-day squad alongside Jorge De Frutos and Samu Omorodion.
The decision, needless to say, triggered worry that Huijsen may indeed be injured and unfit to start or play against Georgia.
Speaking to the media (via AS) after the match, La Roja manager Luis de la Fuente was asked to provide an update on Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen and why he was dropped from the squad on the night.
“Dean Huijsen has a slight discomfort, today our priority as always is to take care of the footballer,” he began, showing concern towards the player’s injury.

“We have shown it again, we are in perfect communication with the doctors of Real Madrid and we have decided the best decision is to rest him,” he added on how Real Madrid continue to stay in the loop of all developments.
Finally, De la Fuente was asked about what the next step was in Huijsen’s current situation and whether his injury was serious, to which he said,
“Tomorrow let’s see how he is and we will evaluate with our medical team and those from Real Madrid.”
The manager’s explanation clarifies why Huijsen, who is Real Madrid’s only mainstay in the camp, was excluded from the squad in the nth minute and how it has nothing to do with his form or quality.
From Real Madrid’s perspective, the hope will be that Huijsen’s injury is minor and that he is available for selection after the break.
The best move for all parties involved, needless to say, will be for the youngster to return to the Spanish capital and work on his return to fitness.
