Chelsea stopped their run of six consecutive league defeats with a 1-1 draw after Enzo Fernandez cancelled out Ryan Gravenberch’s opener.
The point does little to help the Blues in the league as they lost further ground on Bournemouth and Brighton, and remain ninth in the league.
It was arguably Chelsea’s best performance in the league since the 4-1 win against Aston Villa in March, and should give the Blues confidence heading into the FA Cup final next weekend.
Despite an improved performance the Blues couldn’t find a winner, although they arguably should have had penalty late on after Joao Pedro was seemingly fouled in the box.
However, despite the improvement, Cahill has criticised his former club for continually conceding early goals, with the Blues finding themselves 1-0 down in the first six minutes at Anfield.
“Chelsea are not in great form but you look at how many early goals they’ve conceded and you think, be switched on; make your first pass, make your first tackle, he told Premier League Productions.
“It’s a disappointing start for them today and it’s something that needs to change.”
Chelsea in general have been poor defensively this season, but the return of Levi Colwill made a big difference, and they looked a lot better at Anfield.
